City Council To Choose Rutherford Interim Tuesday, 5 In Race
posted November 14, 2007

The City Council will vote next Tuesday night on an interim replacement for City Council District 6.

Meanwhile, five candidates have applied for the Feb. 5 election to fill the remainder of the term. They are Charles Shaw, Melinda Hickey, Barbara Kelley, Julie Chamberlain and Carol Berz. The deadline is Thursday at noon.

The post has been vacant since early October when Marti Rutherford resigned after a residency flap.

Those who put in applications are Steve Parks, Matthew Rivers, Michael Feely and Donna Weeks.

They will be given five minutes each to make presentations at the council meeting at 6 p.m., then the decision will be made after nominations from the council.

The interim appointee will serve until the Feb. 5 election.
