Fire Quickly Put Out At Greenwood Baptist Church

A fire was quickly extinguished at Greenwood Baptist Church on Monday morning.

At 8:15 a.m., the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at the church located at 8529 Snow Hill Road.

When the first unit arrived on the scene, firefighters confirmed heavy smoke coming from the front door of the church.

Assistant Chief Danny Wright of the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department, said, “We made an interior attack through the front door and found a bathroom on fire. We put a quick stop on the fire.”

Chief Charles Harris of the Highway 58 unit said, “This could have been a lot worse. Quick notification, quick response and quick extinguishment.”

No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $2,500.

According to Assistant Chief Wright, the fire started in a bathroom’s exhaust fan.
