The Ooltewah High School Band will be participating in the Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade this year, making them one of the few high school bands from the Southeast to march in the annual parade.
Officials said, "They will be wearing uniforms that are specifically for the parade (Macy’s gave them the specs on how they should look), so even the student body, faculty, and staff at Ooltewah High School has no clue as to what they will be."
The parade will air on Thursday, on NBC, local WRCB, Channel 3 (cable channel 4) in the morning. The members of the band have been told they will be shown live at 10:26 a.m., but the public is encouraged to be tuned in from 10:15 a.m. through 10:45 a.m. in case they are a little off their schedule.
The band members, and those traveling with them, boarded the bus on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the trip to New York. They will have a full schedule of tourist visits in the city while they are there.
Channel 3 has a reporter traveling to New York and Ooltewah officials have been told there may be some spots throughout the week on WRCB regarding the Ooltewah Band.
A very important time on the agenda for the band is Thursday morning at 2:30 a.m. They must be dressed and in their spot for practice at that early hour. After their practice session, they will be having breakfast together.
County officials said, "Hamilton County is so proud of the Ooltewah High School Band for all of their hard work. They will make a wonderful representation of our county."
