Apartments Burn In East Ridge posted December 6, 2007 Apartments on Castle Avenue in East Ridge suffered heavy fire damage early Thursday morning. At approximately 4:48 a.m. East Ridge Fire Rescue and East Ridge Police responded to 3226 Castle Ave. First responders arrived on the scene within four minutes to find the structure heavily involved in fire. The fire had already spread from the downstairs apartment to the upstairs apartment and was threatening the residence next door. Firefighters made contact with the occupants of the residence to insure that everyone had escaped the building and there was no one injured. Fire crews then began a defensive attack of the fire to bring the flames under control and prevent its spread to adjacent structures. East Ridge Fire Rescue was assisted by Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department on automatic mutual aid. Memorial EMS and Hamilton County Rescue rehab also responded to the blaze. East Ridge fire and arson investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the displaced residence. |
