East Ridge Fire Rescue Responds To Kitchen Fire
posted December 13, 2007

East Ridge Fire Rescue and East Ridge Police responded to 6842A Beulah Dr. on a kitchen fire on Thursday shortly before noon.

The first engine company arrived on the scene within five minutes and reported light smoke showing. Firefighters discovered a kitchen fire that had been extinguished by the homeowner.

Charles Rhoden, 60, suffered minor smoke inhalation while fighting the fire. Mr. Rhoden was treated by Lifeguard EMS at the scene.

The fire apparently started when an oven fell over while Mr. Rhoden was working in the kitchen.

Fire crews ventilated the structure before allowing the occupant to go back inside. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
