Mr. Rowe, a community activist in County Commission District 5, will be introduced at a special called meeting of the Election Commission on Jan. 7. He replaces Karen Lee, who resigned. Bud Knowles, election administrator, said his office was notified by letter of the appointment of Mr. Rowe by the state election commission. They act on the recommendation of the local legislative delegation. Mr. Knowles said the terms of the five commissioners are not due to expire until April of 2009. Three of the election commissioners recently expressed concerns about the attendance record of the other two. Chairman Dot Eddington and Commissioners Mike Walden and Bart Quinn said Sharlotte Polk and Ms. Lee were often absent in recent months. |
