A Broken District
posted January 21, 2008

Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall and is broken, well to be more accurate fractured. Six have stepped forward and offered to represent the Sixth District for the balance of the term, one is Dr. Carol Berz. All are long time residents, of good character and fine people; some have contributed civility and served in various capacities.

The question one must asked is who is the most qualified to repair the damaged Sixth District.

Some cite experience as the benchmark, but what experience?

Some say in their literature that they have "a strong relationship" with the police, but the IBPO is not backing them.

It is evident to anyone attending the debates and forums when the candidates present their platforms that Dr. Carol Berz possesses the most qualifications unquestionably.

This is one candidate who stands above the others and has earned the qualifications without doubt to bring District 6 together with the professional credentials of "unity, integrity and accountability."

Only one candidate has been certified, licensed and recognized locally and nationally as a unifier. For 11 years as the commissioner with the Chattanooga Human Rights/Human Relations Commission, Dr. Berz was the first woman chairperson of that body. Dr. Berz was recently honored by the city of Chattanooga for her unique contributions toward advancing equality of opportunity among the citizens of the city.

Carol Berz is not pointing fingers to the past for blame, but how to fix a course to this District's future.

If all these good candidates were lined up and asked the key question on who was most qualified to put the Sixth District back together again only one could step forward. Carol Berz. This is who should get your vote on Feb. 5.
