Edwards Will Be First Presidential Contender To Campaign Here posted January 25, 2008 Democrat John Edwards will be the first 2008 presidential contender to take his campaign to Chattanooga. Edwards has scheduled an event for Monday at 11:15 a.m. at IBEW Local 175 at 3922 Volunteer Dr. The event is free and open to the public. He is due to drive straight to Nashville for an event at the Steelworkers headquarters at 1:30 p.m. CST. Edwards is struggling to stay in a campaign dominated thus far by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Tennesseans will vote Feb. 5 their presidential preference. Meanwhile, supporters of Barack Obama set some Chattanooga activities. They include: Saturday, January 26 SOUTH CAROLINA WATCH PARTY 7:00 PM EST Pisa Pizza 551 River St. Sunday, January 27 WALK FOR CHANGE CANVASS 1:00 - 4:00 PM EST Pisa Pizza 551 River St. Also, a number of local leaders are expected to announce support for Gov. Mike Huckabee for President at a press conference Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Country Place Restaurant at 7320 Shallowford Road. Mark West of Ooltewah is leading the local Huckabee effort. Hillary Clinton will be in Memphis on Sunday.
