posted February 4, 2008

The Julie Chamberlain campaign is urging unity on election night for the six contenders for an open District 6 City Council seat.

Scott Chase, husband of Ms. Chamberlain, said Michael Alfano, owner/operator of the Comedy Catch, will be hosting an event Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.

He said all of the six candidates are invited to take part.

Mr. Chase said, "Tuesday culminates a long local campaign for the six candidates competing for the seat vacated by Marti Rutherford.

"Julie and I have built some lasting relationships with the candidates and realize we all have some common goals. One is to create a synergy of cooperation and unity among all residents of District 6, whoever garners the most votes tomorrow. Thus our 'Unity in the Community' tomorrow evening for the candidates.

"We will together listen and watch the results for District 6 and the presidential primary role in."

Candidates who have indicated they will attend for at least a portion of the evening as of now include Julie Chamberlain. Melinda Hickey, Barbara Kelly, Charles Shaw and Rick Igou.

Carol Berz is having an event at Los Compadres Mexican Grill at 5773 Brainerd Road.
