Shortly before 3 p.m., they were called to the blaze at 297 Obey St. Battalion Chief Winston Shields said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen, and had penetrated into the attic when the first firefighters arrived on the scene.
The firefighters got the blaze under control in roughly 20 minutes.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
