Splash Valley Water Park On Track Despite Delay
posted March 9, 2008

East Ridge Mayor Mike Steele said the $14 million Splash Valley water park is running behind schedule, but it is still set to open on Ringgold Road this summer.

He said it now appears the water park will open in June instead of May as had been planned initially.

Mayor Steele said the state had determined that one acre at the 15-acre site was a disturbed wetland.

He said the work was held up until the state agreed to allow construction to proceed on the other 14 acres.

Mayor Steele said, "I have met the manager of the water park, and they have begun taking applications for workers."

He said work is currently underway cleaning up the site.

A motel home firm previously occupied the site next to Nice Cars and across from Groome Transportation.
