Fire Destroys House In Spring Valley Subdivision posted March 11, 2008
One of the residents in the home told firefighters that they were watching TV when it suddenly went off. When they went into the garage to check the breaker box, they noticed a lot of smoke in the air, so they called 9-1-1 and got out of the house. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 7:31 a.m. and responded with four fire companies. Capt. Danny Hague said the house was "well involved" in flames when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. The firefighters attempted an interior attack on the fire, but the damage had already been done. The house is considered a total loss. No injuries were reported. Chattanooga fire investigators said they believe the cause of the fire was accidental. Fire Investigator Andrew Waters said the fire appears to have started near appliances in the attached garage. He estimated the loss at $100,000. |
