The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has added a professional con man to its list of TBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted.
The unidentified “John Doe” has several aliases, including Jamie Lee Turpin, Joe Turpin, Joseph Douglas Clegg and Joseph Douglas Dragone and is wanted for theft over $60,000.
Earlier this month, “Doe,” posed as a multi-millionaire out of Canada who stated he owned more than a dozen casinos in Las Vegas, Nev., and offered to buy a local farm in Loudon County, Tn., for $29,000,000. He also signed contracts on three vehicles from a local car dealership valued at more than $100,000.
After receiving the vehicles, he managed to swindle three more vehicles from the same dealership - also valued more than $100,000. The subject provided an Ontario, Canada driver’s license that stated he was "Jamie Lee Turpin" to the car dealership. It was determined the license belonged to a woman. He’s also known to defraud people into opening bank accounts and transferring money to him or convince business owners to sell him their business.
“Doe” is approximately 30-35 years old, with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s 5’8” and weighs about 180 pounds. He is driving a stolen 2005 Dodge 4x4, four-door pick up. He has tattoos on his left forearm of doves and three female names. His right forearm has a military-type tattoo. He also claims to be a Navy Seal.
“Doe” is thought to be traveling with a female named Donna Poe Johnson. She may be going as Donna Turpin, Donna Poe, Donna Johnson or Deane Turpin. She is five months pregnant with twins.
It is not known if “Doe” has a violent criminal history. However, he is armed and should be approached with caution.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of “John Doe” is urged to contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
