Tim Carroll Is Not Your Stereotypical Politician - And Response (3) posted March 22, 2008 Tim Carroll is one of the Republican candidates for sheriff. Tim is well qualified with many years of law enforcement, college degree, and managerial skills. Tim is also honest, sincere, and very passionate about his service to his community. However, what Tim is not, is your stereotypical politician. He is far from it. We, as community, state, and nation, both Republicans and Democrats, have been let down by politicians who will smile, kiss your baby, shake your hand, and then take your money, lie, cheat, steal and the list goes on. Please let me make this clear. I am not saying the other candidates would do any of the above. What I am saying is Tim is trustworthy. Tim is not a product of deals made or the product of the power brokers of our community. Tim is pursuing the sheriff’s office because many of his friends and peers saw an honest and hardworking person who would make a great sheriff and told him he should run. His intention was to run in the next election, but unfortunately for all of us, the next election has been fast forwarded to this August. Now I would like to ask all the delegates to please consider Tim Carroll as your candidate. Trust Tim Carroll. I do. Jeff Lewis Lewis_fam_99@yahoo.com * * * Over these past weeks the public has had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the perspectives and agendas of the various candidates in the upcoming sheriff's election. Tim Carroll's honest, pragmatic, and hopeful insight into our community's problems and needs, and his willingness to examine the issues and listen closely to public questions and concerns sets him far apart from the other candidtates' expected techniques and talk. I am writing today to express my support for his campaign and my intention to both vote for him in the upcoming elections as well as spread the word to others of the value of his policies and abilities. I am hoping for his success. Stephanne Dennis Harrison * * * In response to Mr. Lewis regarding Tim Carroll's (no relation) candidacy for Sheriff, does he actually mean to suggest that only pawns of the local political power brokers get elected to anything? If so, does that make them untrustworthy? What about those who are ambitious and look to long-standing political figures for advice and guidance? How much of what Mr. Lewis describes as a "stereotypical politician" is symptomatic of system failure, or individual character flaws? Regardless of who supports any candidate for any office, the people are still ultimately responsible for their election or defeat. Those who are actually interested in who represents them in government will take the time to look at a candidate's character, qualifications, and track record of success. We got what we deserved with Billy Long, but that was hard to see coming especially after his endorsement by H.Q. Evatt. With the Long indictment pending, questions about past law enforcement officials' legacies, and the current Snyder situation, it's not absurd to ask even tougher questions of those who would seek to be our Sheriff. Stereotypical or not, perhaps some of these "political power brokers" will have enough sense to help someone who doesn't put themselves into compromising circumstances. We as citizens certainly should have that kind of sense as well. Craig S. Carroll alamo3csc@yahoo.com * * * As a long-time resident of Hamilton County and a personal friend of Tim Carroll, I urge the delegates to support him as the Republican candidate for sheriff. Tim exemplifies all of the qualities of a leader in his personal and professional life. He is a loving and dedicated husband and father, and a brother to his fellow officers in his commitment to the Fraternal Order of Police. Through training and hard work, Tim has made his way through the ranks to his current position as a lieutenant. He has been with the Chattanooga Police Department for 25 years. Tim has first-hand knowledge of all the people who can contribute to the operation of a successful police department. Put Tim to work for us as sheriff. Carol Cutright Signal Mountain |
