County School Supt. Dr. Jim Scales has told County School Board members they cannot have access to the list of those who have applied to be principals.
Dr. Scales said in a weekly note to board members that he had received a request from a board member for the applicant names for principalship positions.
He noted that the school system recently advertised for posts at Harrison Elementary, Thrasher Elementary, Ooltewah Middle and Hunter Middle.
Dr. Scales said, "Applicants are assured that their initial application and interest in a job is confidential. If they are not selected to continue to the interview phase, then there won't be repercussions at their current assignment.
"While I understand your interest in who will be assigned to a school in your area, I encourage you to refrain from becoming involved in order to limit any liability that may cause you.
"As long as we maintain a fair process, there will be quality candidates that will apply for administrative positions."
