Bob Davis, Jr., former chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party and Senior Advisor to Sen. Fred Thompson’s 2008 presidential run, has opened a government relations firm in Nashville.

The company, RJD Group, Inc., will primarily focus on government relations, political consulting and public affairs. Mr. Davis, a 25-year veteran of national and state politics, was unanimously elected chairman of the state party both in 2004 and 2006 and was a member of the Republican National Committee.

On August 4, 2007, Mr. Davis resigned to become Senior Advisor to Presidential candidate Sen. Thompson, traveling extensively with him and providing daily counsel throughout the campaign.

Prior to his role as chairman, Mr. Davis served as Sen. Thompson’s top aide in Tennessee where he held the position of State Director. He was also Campaign Manager for Sen. Thompson’s successful re-election campaign in 1996 where Mr. Thompson captured more votes than any other candidate previously in Tennessee history.

Mr. Davis also served as Deputy Chairman at the state party and was considered the architect who played an integral role in helping Republicans gain majority status in the state senate for the first time in 140 years.

Mr. Davis has consulted with hundreds of candidates across the state both for statewide and local office. He has also been a consultant for several presidential campaigns including President George Herbert Walker Bush, Sen. Bob Dole and President George W. Bush.

Mr. Davis is a 1984 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a BS in Communications. He and his wife Linda have two children, a 17-year-old daughter Ashton and a 13-year-old son Reese. He is involved in numerous philanthropic causes and is a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville.
