Outdoor Chattanooga and its programming arm, OutVenture will host the second annual Outdoor Expo and Gear Swap on Saturday, March 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in downtown Chattanooga’s Coolidge Park.

The event is free and open to the public.

Representatives from outdoor clubs, outfitters, retailers, and conservation organizations will be on hand to show the public the best and latest ways to get outside and play in the Chattanooga area.

This year’s expo will feature free activities such as a mini disc golf course, guided beginner bicycle rides with Bike Chattanooga and the new Outdoor Chattanooga bicycle fleet, retrieving dog demonstrations in Renaissance Park, fly fishing demonstrations and more.

Among the 35 organizations registered are the Chattanooga Nature Center, Tennessee Valley Canoe Club, Chattanooga Bicycle Club, Rock Creek, the Adventure Guild, Lookout Mountain Hanggliders, the Trust for Public Land, and North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy.

New for 2008 are the Velo Vixens Cycling Club, Trout Unlimited, Women in the Outdoors, Easy Chair Recumbent Bikes, Ducks Unlimited, Roddy Dogs, Ocoee River rafting companies, and a local representative for the Pampered Chef, who will be exhibiting outdoor cooking gear.

The City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department, the Baylor School, and Camp Juliet Lowe will highlight summer camp and activity programs, and gear swappers will be on hand selling everything from kayaks to backpacks.

In case of heavy rain, the event will be postponed to Sunday, March 30, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.outdoorchattanooga.com
