GPS Strikes Late For 7-3 Softball Victory Over Soddy-Daisy

It looked like Soddy-Daisy might get the best of GPS in high school softball action Wednesday night at the Soddy Lake Fields.

Instead, the Bruisers rallied late for a 7-3 victory over the Lady Trojans.

Soddy-Daisy junior Alesha Buckner kept GPS off the scoreboard for the first five innings and carried a 2-0 lead into the top of the sixth.

GPS then struck for four runs in the top of the sixth and three more in the top of the seventh.

Maddie Smith led GPS with a 2-for-4 performance that included a double, single and two RBI.

Megan Givens and Kamri Chester were each 2-for-4 for the Bruisers with Chester getting one RBI.

Payton Leech was also 2-for-4 for GPS with a triple, single and one RBI. Jackie Baird had a double and two RBI.

Meagan Wagner gave up only four hits for GPS, striking out four and walking three.

Buckner struck out four and walked one.

For Soddy-Daisy, Brandi Lasley was 2-for-4 with a double and triple. Ashlee England was 1-for-2 with a run-scoring triple.
