East Ridge Vice Mayor, Petty, Jim Vincent Are Legislative Possibilities
posted March 27, 2008

East Ridge Vice Mayor Jerry Petty has picked up papers for the District 30 House seat, along with Richard Elrod.

The incumbent, Vince Dean, has also picked up papers. But he is not planning to run again for the General Assembly if he gets the nod tonight by the county Republicans for a race for sheriff.

Richard Floyd has qualified in House District 27 and JoAnne Favors in House District 29.

Basil Marceaux Jr., son of a perennial candidate, has qualified as a Republican to face Rep. Favors.

Basil Marceaux Sr. has qualified to run for Senate District 10. Incumbent Andy Berke has picked up papers.

Gerald McCormick has picked up papers for House District 26 and veteran legislator Tommie Brown has picked up for House District 28.

Former House member Jim Vincent said he is considering a race against Rep. Jim Cobb in House District 31.

Mr. Vincent, who also was on the County Commission at one time, said he was taking a poll before deciding whether to run.

The qualifying deadline is next Thursday at noon.
