Man Dies In Holtzclaw Avenue Wreck After Slumping Over Wheel posted March 28, 2008 A man who was slumped over the wheel before crashing on Holtzclaw Avenue on Thursday afternoon died of a heart attack, according to the medical examiner's office. Around 2 p.m., Chattanooga police were called to the scene of a traffic accident at 1100 N. Holtzclaw. According to witnesses Paul E. Daugherty, 67, was traveling north on Holtzclaw in his 1997 Dodge 2500. The witnesses said Mr. Daugherty was slumped over the wheel. The vehicle crossed over into the southbound lanes, ran off the roadway across two sets of railroad track and came to rest striking a fence. Mr. Daugherty was transported to Erlanger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Friends said he had a history of heart problems. |
