Former Red Bank Police Officer Pleads Guilty In Sex Case
posted March 28, 2008

A former Red Bank police officer has been given a five-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated statutory rape with a 17-year-old girl.

Officer George Dewey, who was with the department for 21 years, left the force last summer when the allegations were made.

The case was handled without having to go through the Grand Jury because Dewey said he wanted to spare his family from a protracted case.

He appeared before Criminal Court Judge Don Poole.

He must register as a sex offender.
