posted March 28, 2008

Sponsored by the Shops at Riverview, Whoop Dee Doo is a three-day event, slated for April 10-12, featuring food, music, give-aways and special savings at all participating merchants in the Riverview area.

A percentage of all proceeds will benefit the Northside Neighborhood House, an 80 year old service organization, which provides assistance in the North Chattanooga community for families and individuals in need, as well as educational programs.

Festivities will begin on Thursday night, April 10, with extended hours for all merchants from 5-8 p.m.
Food and light refreshments will be provided, as well as the opportunity to sign up for drawings at participating merchants for fabulous prizes and gifts. Live music will be provided Saturday at various locations in the Riverview shopping area.

Among those participating with special events include Hanover Gallery, which will open a new art show, “Barnyards and Bluegrass,” complete with live bluegrass music on their deck, Saturday. Artists participating include local artists, Susan Doubleday and Ellen Epperson, as well as Georgia Nagle and Millie Gosch from Atlanta and Adam Carlos from Sewanee.

Parties throughout the weekend include a “Pink Lemonade and Green Martini Party,” hosted by Charlotte’s Web, and two birthday bashes, hosted by Lula’s and Encore Consignment Boutique, celebrating their fourth and tenth anniversaries, respectively. The Grape Basket will host a “Pick a Daisy Party,” for a discount, and Cynthia Howell Stationery & Gifts will offer a drawing for a “Birthday Party Giveaway,” including custom printing.

Vine Street Market will offer a special Thursday night, “Dining Under the Stars,” dinner menu, complete with pink and black tablecloths and jazz music. Entrees will include grilled salmon, grilled hamburgers, beef tenderloin and shrimp salad. To accompany dinner, a bottle of wine can be purchased, just across the street, at Riverview Wine & Spirits.

Jeffrey’s Flowers will offer a demonstration on the art of arranging flowers, all day Saturday, while the Clay Pot will demonstrate container planting.

For the kids, Lambs & Ivy will host an art and tattoo event, as well as a “Go Fish” for rubber ducky discounts.

After a day of shopping and eating, Stillpoint Health Associates, Inc. will offer complimentary massages on Saturday.

Discounts and prizes will be given at all participating shops, during the weekend, including a $500 gift certificate from Susanna’s and a $150 gift certificate from Jeffrey’s Flowers, among many others.
