A man told police he was assaulted by two would-be robbers on Forrest Avenue in North Chattanooga.
Charles Hutchinson said his car was making a funny noise in the 900 block of Forrest so he stopped to check on it.
He said two men wearing dark masks that covered their faces came up, and one told him, "Give me your ---- dude."
He said one swung at him and hit him in the chest. He swung again, and he was able to block it with his hand.
Mr. Hutchinson said the men ran off toward Sylvan Street without getting any money from him.

Someone stole a utility trailer from S&H Trucks on Alton Park Boulevard.
A video showed a white male driving a 1990s Dodge Ram extended-cab pickup truck. He backed up to the utility trailer and drove off with it.
The trailer is valued at $6,000.
The man was described as 5'8" and 175 pounds, balding in front. His truck had a 55-gallon drum in it and other items.

Tiffany Lee of Dorsey Street came home to find her front door wide open.
Someone went through all the drawers in her dresser.
She is missing an X-box 360, a 27" Sanyo TV and four X-box games.

Farrell Williams of N. Lovell Ave. found her side door open.
Burglars got 10 pairs of jeans, 10 pairs of size 11 shoes, a cell phone and an Apple laptop computer.

On Reads Lake Road, a man was found in front of his residence bleeding from the head.
The man, who was taken to Erlanger Hospital, said he fell off a second-floor balcony.

Police checked out "suspicious activity" on Executive Drive in front of Galen Medical.
A woman reported that a white male and white female were having sex in a red car. She said the female appeared to be on top.
No red car was in sight by the time police arrived.
