2 Children, Grandmother Critical After Dayton Pike Crash
posted March 28, 2008

A grandmother and two small children are in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in North Hamilton County late Friday afternoon.

The driver of the other vehicle also received serious injuries.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to 13424 Dayton Pike at 5:28 p.m. on a vehicle crash. When the deputies arrived on the scene they found two vehicles had been involved.

A white Jeep traveling southbound on Dayton Pike was making a left turn onto McCallie Ferry Road. A silver Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on Dayton Pike and, according to witnesses, they both had the green light.

Sheriff's officials said at this time the investigation shows that the Ford Explorer traveling northbound hit the Jeep when the female driver attempted to make the turn onto McCallie Ferry Road from Dayton Pike.

The Jeep was being operated by a woman, who had two small children ages two years and nine months as passengers. The preliminary investigation shows that both children had been restrained in child restraint seats.

The two-year-old child was found not breathing and Deputy Gene Myers performed CPR. The children were airlifted to T.C. Thompson Hospital by Life Force helicopter and are listed in critical condition.

The driver of the white Jeep was transported by EMS and is also listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was transported by EMS to Erlanger with serious injuries.
