With flashlight in hand, Lt. Anthony Moore with the Fire Investigation Division walks away from the house to talk to the two men who were reportedly in the house when the fire was discovered. Hamilton County EMS had a stretcher in place in case it was needed, but no injuries were reported.
Chattanooga firefighters were called to a house fire at 3621 Cherryton Drive in Brainerd on Monday afternoon.

Getting the call shortly before 2 p.m., Capt. Darrell Burt with Quint 13 reported seeing the flames from several blocks away as the unit raced to the scene from Brainerd Road.

The fire was actually on the back side of the two-story house, in the kitchen. As other firefighters arrived on the scene, Capt. Burt said they were able to contain most of the fire damage to the kitchen and attic above. The rest of the house had smoke and water damage.

The loss was estimated at around $30,000.

Capt. Burt said two men were in the house at the time, but both got out of the house uninjured.

A woman and a two-year-old child also reportedly lived there, but they were not home at the time of the fire.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross were called in to provide assistance to the victims.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
