June Griffin Seeking 3rd District Seat As Write-In Candidate posted April 30, 2008 June Griffin of Dayton, Tenn., has filed as a write-in candidate to seek to replace Third District Congressman Zach Wamp in the November election. She has run unsuccessfully several times "depending on her conservative, Constitutional and patriotic stance against federal government intrusion into the lives of Americans who uphold traditional liberties." Mrs. Griffin said, "The last time I ran against Zach Wamp, I ended up with 3,000 votes with little money to spend. In my run for Senate against Lamar Alexander, I had 5,000 votes across the state, while I spent a little over $600 and Lamar Alexander spent millions. "It is regrettable that we now have to file as a write-in candidate since the liberty to write in a candidate of your choice was done away by the State Election Commission. Nevertheless, I have entered my name to run for our God-given rights and liberties and to give a choice to the people against a representative, Zach Wamp, who by certified letter ordered me to desist from ever calling his office. This kind of impudence is unthinkable in a man who puts himself forth as a representative of the people. "I have run consistently on a platform of Americanism, for God and country, and our national sovereignty, having in view the God of our Fathers and the liberties which were given to us under the Bill of Rights. I have taken a stand for our national sovereignty and the holiness of the American flag which jeopardized my whole life. "We face the worst situation in our electoral history with candidates for President which are causing grief and consternation among the two major political parties. We need people in Congress who have a history of no compromise and standing firm in spite of opposition. With God's grace, and with a record of Americanism and facing strong opposition from local vested interests, I will be that person. "I will add one more determination and resolve if I could be elected. I will move against the IRS to install a section of the IRS Code to include the following provision: "In the case of all married couples, the amount of money the husband would pay in federal taxes will go directly to the wife. Those filling out their 1040s will merely include a receipt where he paid his wife the amount of taxes that would go to Washington. This will end 50% of the divorces. "Where the wife is the sole support, the reverse will be true. Why should we support others' wives? "Elected officials have abandoned their sworn oath before God to uphold the Constitution as interpreted by the ordinances the forefathers instituted. This I will do, so help me, God." |
