Governor Phil Bredesen will convene the first meeting of the Governor’s Task Force on Energy Policy on Monday to begin the process of developing a state energy plan.
The 17-member panel includes key legislators and state officials as well as representatives of business, environmental and other interests. The task force is charged with making recommendations to help Tennessee become a leader in energy efficiency and conservation, use of alternative fuels and renewable energy sources, and the development of clean-energy technology.
Headlining Monday’s meeting will be Dr. Jeff Wadsworth, executive vice president of Laboratory Operations for Battelle, which manages Oak Ridge National Laboratory in a partnership with the University of Tennessee.
Mr. Wadsworth will provide an overview of energy generation, consumption, and key trends in the Volunteer State. The public is invited to attend.
