Erlanger Offers Fitness Opportunities, “Doctor, Doctor” Series, Memory Screening And Kids’ Fair posted May 5, 2008 This week, the Erlanger schedule of classes and events includes HealthLink Plus fitness opportunities, two sessions from the “Doctor, Doctor” Series and memory screening. The second annual Safe & Sound Kids’ Fair for families with toddlers to teens will take place on Saturday, May 17 at Ross’s Landing. Events are free and registration is required unless otherwise noted. Tuesday, May 13 Adaptive Tai Ji (Tai Chi) 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. The Fitness Center at Siskin Hospital Tai-Ji (Tai Chi) is a great form of exercise, especially for those with osteoarthritis. It can help you build leg muscles, strengthen posture, and improve balance, flexibility, and mobility. Core Training Class 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. The Fitness Center at Siskin Hospital The body's core muscles, lying deep within the torso, are the foundation for all movement. They stabilize the spine and provide a solid foundation for movement in the extremities. This free class will introduce several exercises that are the building blocks for core muscle strength and coordination. Training the muscles of the core corrects postural imbalances that can lead to injuries and help develop functional fitness - that is, fitness that is essential to both daily living and regular activities. Saturday, May 17 Safe & Sound Kids Fair 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Ross’s Landing T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger will join forces with area law enforcement, fire and emergency services and other community groups for the Second Annual Safe and Sound Kids Safety Fair. Parents and kids of all ages will have fun learning valuable safety tips on everything from fire and playground safety to the effects of driving under the influence and drag racing.
