Police Blotter: Vehicle Sticker Winds Up In Gutter posted May 7, 2008 Danalius Usher said through some freak circumstances her vehicle decal ended up in a gutter. She said she had just gotten her decal and was installing it on her vehicle on Georgia Avenue outside the County Courthouse. But then a speeding motorist passed by, sending up a gale force wind. The decal slipped from her grasp and into the bowels of a nearby storm drain. * * * Chad Fleming said he was exercising at The Rush on Lee Highway when someone broke out the driver's side window on his vehicle. The thief got his wallet containing numerous credit cards and $200 in cash. * * * On Francis Street, Gerald Gann of Gann Construction said someone entered a storage container in the rear of the business and took $4,200 worth of items. Also on Francis Street, Todd Ridge said he is missing 3,000 feet of copper worth $7,000. A witness reported seeing a skinny white male carrying two buckets in the vicinity of the thefts. He was driving a 1980s brown minivan with a loud muffler. When the man was spotted, he put his shirt up over his head, then drove away. * * * On Ladd Road, someone broke through a plywood wall of an outbuilding. The owner is missing 60 pounds of copper wiring. * * * Pashunnda Woods said she returned to her home on Wilcox Boulevard and found her 42" plasma TV gone. She said the house was locked and only her boyfriend has a key. The TV is worth $1,399. * * * A store on Hixson Pike reported an underage girl put five bottles of Heineken beer into her handbag and tried to leave. She was detained. When her parents were called, they declined to come down to pick her up. They said to just take her to the Juvenile Detention Center. The police obliged. * * * A clerk at a store on Rossville Boulevard was restocking a cooler when two black females walked in. The clerk said one of them urinated on the floor in front of the cooler, then they exited. * * * Lucia Rafael of Third Avenue found her residence had been broken into. Items missing include a jar with $200 in it and a $500 digital camera. Also taken was a small purse that contained the keys to her van. But the vehicle was not taken. * * * A man said he had problems with his gay lover and needed to get away, so he took a room for the night at the Motel 8 on Williams Street. But he said he called his friend and asked him to come over and bring something to eat. He said the boyfriend brought a Sprite. He said he drank it and went to sleep. He said he is not sure if he was dreaming or not, but he believes there was a black man in the room during the night. He woke up and was missing $50. * * * Heather Gaston of Mountain Creek Road said her dog Bailey has been dragging in some strange bones from the woods behind her apartment. An officer said they appeared to be deer bones. But they were being checked at the medical examiner's office. Ms. Gaston was advised to call if Bailey finds further bones. |
