Grand Opening Of St. Jude Dream Home Is May 17 posted May 8, 2008 The St. Jude Dream Home house, built by Karl Sodergren of ChattanoogaNewHomes.com in the McKenzie Farm community of Ooltewah, will open for free tours on Saturday, May 17. The house will be open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. every Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. every Sunday, May 17 – June 15. Visitors to the house can register free for a chance to win a $5,000 shopping spree at Walker’s Oak & More Furniture, Inc. A limited number of $100 tickets for a chance to win the $300,000 home will also be available during free tours of the house. This year’s home features over 2,750 square feet of living space, including four bedrooms, two and one half baths, a media room, and a kitchen pantry stocked with Southern Home products, courtesy of BI-LO. “My favorite features of this year’s home are the arched entry to the formal dining room and open floor plan,” said Carmen Paynter of ChattanoogaNewHomes.com. “Every subcontractor and supplier that we worked with gave their best to build this gorgeous home. Many even used the home to showcase their craftsmanship. We are so grateful for everyone’s generosity in building this house that will benefit children fighting cancer here in Chattanooga and around the world.” “On Nov. 7, 2000 my family’s life was changed forever with the devastating news that our youngest son Jack had stage IV Neuroblastoma, a very serious form of childhood cancer. Without the new approaches to therapy done at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the support of millions around the world, Jack would not be the happy, energetic 10 year old he is today. This year’s home is spectacular and will make one lucky ticket holder’s dreams come true while contributing to an organization that is very dear to my family’s heart,” said Beth White, campaign co-chair. This year, 15 additional prizes will also be given away, guaranteeing one in 500 odds of winning a prize valued at $1,000 or more. Other prizes up for grabs include a 2008 Ford Focus SES sedan with SYNC Voice Activation technology courtesy of Your Local Ford Dealer, a $1,000 gift certificate to A Better You salon, a $1,000 shopping spree at Lisa’s Gold & Diamonds, flowers for one year courtesy of Highland Florist and Design Center, free car washes for a year courtesy of GooGoo Express Wash, and many more. Winners of the St. Jude Dream Home house and other prizes will be drawn during a live broadcast on WRCB Channel 3 on Sunday, June 22. Tune into WUSY US-101 for more details. Tickets are available at InTrust Federal Credit Union locations and at the St. Jude Dream Home house.
