Chattanooga Matters has a 25-year record of hosting distinguished international, national and local speakers on a wide variety of topics beneficial to our city, the strengthening of the churches and individuals seeking ways to put their faith in action in their daily lives. The subjects cover the spectrum of the seven sectors of influence in the city: family, government, the arts, media, education, business and the church.
“These forums offer a rare opportunity for citizens to hear, free of charge, quality speakers on a variety of topics who speak and then willingly take questions from the assembled audience,” said Kevin McNelly, Executive director of Chattanooga Matters…”and Judge Steelman represents the very best of what makes Chattanooga such a fine community.”
Judge Steelman, is a graduate of Chattanooga Matter's Leadership Development Course, Red Bank High School, Carson-Newman College and the University Of Tennessee College Of Law.
He is involved in educating students about leadership, public service and the judicial system; service to the Chattanooga Bar Association and the Carson-Newman College Alumni Executive Committee.
Judge Steelman has coached numerous youth sports teams and is a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where he has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of the choir.
His wife is a nurse employed by Erlanger Health System and they have three children.
The Forum venue is the V. Frances Meeting Center, 324 McCallie Ave., downtown across from ghe Memorial Auditorium at the corner of McCallie and Lindsay.
This free event is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m.
