Grace head coach Tina Walker talks to her team after the game.
The Grace Golden Eagle softball team shutout Silverdale for the second time this week to claim the District 5-A softball title at the Tyner ball fields Friday afternoon. Grace beat the Lady Seahawks 3-0.

Grace beat Silverdale 4-0 earlier in the week, sending Silverdale to the loser's bracket but they battled back into the championship game.

Courtney Patrick earned the win in the pitching circle for Grace. She struck out nine batters including the final three in the top of the seventh to end the game.

Grace's Erica Ellerman had two bunts that set up runs for Grace, one in the first and one in the third. Ellerman bunt single in the first eventually scored Lacye Walker who had led off the inning with a double. A Silverdale error on the play allowed Walker to score. Ellerman scored on a sacrifice fly by Kaitlyn Eldridge to cap of the two run inning.

In the third, Courtney Patrick scored after a bunt single by Ellerman and an Eldridge ground out.

According to Grace head coach Tina Walker, her team is not hitting well but still able to score runs.

"It's been all small ball for us lately," Walker said. "We were able to put the pressure on their defense but we have to find someone to bring the big bats and do have them."

Grace was 8-0 in district play this year. Both teams advance to play in the region tournament next week.

Silverdale pitcher Kelsey Dishroon allowed just two hits and had four strikeouts.

Silverdale moves to 15-10 and will be appearing the region tournament for the first time in school history.

Grace will host Sale Creek on Monday in the semfinals of the region tournament and Silverdale will travel to Whitwell. Whitwell beat Sale Creek on Friday 3-2.

The Golden Eagles beat Sale Creek twice this year but Walker said her team is going to have to bring the bats to keep playing.

"With our bats going south like this we are going to have to play well," She said.
