Glenn E. Britt, 58, of Cleveland, died at his home on Monday May 5, 2008 after a long battle with muscular dystrophy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Jones Britt; brothers, Kenneth ‘Bud’ Britt, William ‘Buster’ Britt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther and Frankie Phillips; brothers-in-law, Daryl Thomas, Leon Phillips and David Phillips.

He was born and raised in a large family in McDonald, TN, attended school, worked and later moved to Cleveland. He faced many losses and had daily pain and struggles, however, never once complaining, he met and accepted each obstacle with courage, strength and dignity. He was loved by all who had the privilege to know him and call him their friend. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1995 and had attended Family Worship Center in Cleveland. He loved his pastor and his church family. He was a wise, strong, courageous man. A man of character and integrity. A humble man. A good man. He adored his wife, loved his family and was loyal to his many friends. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, the Braves, NASCAR and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered with laughter and joy and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of thirty-three years, Carol Phillips Britt of Cleveland; his sisters, Joyce Baxter and her husband Greg of Ooltewah, Linda Welch and her husband Eddie of Cleveland, Pat Griffice and her husband Bill of McDonald; a large extended family of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who loved him greatly.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, Wildwood Avenue Chapel with Pastor Isaac Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery in McDonald with Jacen Phillips, Colby Still, Jordan Still, Britt Thomas, Steve Rakestraw, Gerald Still, Tim Posey and Eddie Holder serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Wrinkle, Larry Garner and Gary Smith.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, Wildwood Avenue Chapel who is in charge of the arrangements.
