T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital Golf Classic Raises $66,000 posted May 12, 2008 The T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Foundation along with presenting sponsor, Office Max, recently hosted the 21st Annual Golf Classic on May 5th at Black Creek Club. This year’s tournament raised approximately $66,000 to benefit Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. The Golf Classic is an annual event to benefit T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital. Each year, area physicians, leaders in business and industry, and members of the local community gather to celebrate and support the healing mission of the area’s premier charitable organization for children. “The funds raised will make a tremendous impact on the lives of over 36,000 children this year at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital,” said Rebecca Littleton, annual giving coordinator at Erlanger. “On behalf of our amazing kids and families, we want to thank everyone involved for participating in a wonderful event for an even greater cause.” The event consisted of 124 golfers, including Jim Brexler, Erlanger president and CEO, and Dr. David Seaberg, dean of the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga. Wholesale Import Cars was named as the top team. The longest drive was awarded to Jim Lowe with Swiss Log and the putting contest winner was Dr. Marc Cromie. Turner Fordham, avid golfer and pediatric oncology patient at Children’s Hospital, and her father Louis Fordham co-chaired this year’s event. Ms. Fordham used this opportunity to share her personal connection to Children’s Hospital. “Over the past two and a half years, T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital has become a very important part of my life. During the course of my treatment, I have had over a dozen hospital stays and well over a hundred visits to the oncology clinic,” said Ms. Fordham. “I feel very comfortable coming to the hospital. I know that I’m going to be taken care of by the nurses and doctors. Having a place like Children’s Hospital so close to home really made a difference for me and my family.” Sponsors included Owens & Minor at the Gold Club level and Pinnacle Health Group at the Silver Club level. |
