George L. Burris, 83, of Cleveland, died on Wednesday in a local healthcare facility. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hattie Burris; his brother and sister in law Jack and Sylvia Burris; and his sister and brother in law Louise and Edward Thomas and sister Dorothy Ruth Burris.
He was retired from Brown’s Stove Works after 40 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and fishing with son, grandsons and best friends, Ronnie and Phyllis Wright of Cleveland. and was a member of Bancroft Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Stansberry Burris of Cleveland; his son, Virgil Burris and his wife Peggy of McDonald, Tn.; grandsons, Chad Burris and his wife Rachel of McDonald, Tn. and Colby Burris and his fiancee Sara Phillips both of Cleveland; great- grandchildren, Caleb and Morgan Burris; his sister, Leona Gray and her husband Robert of Cleveland; and nephew, Eddie Thomas and his wife Karen of Cleveland.
A Remembrance of Life Service will conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Norman Stallings and Reverend Ronald Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Chad Burris, Colby Burris, Caleb Burris, Bobby Stansberry, Kenneth Stansberry, J.D. Stansberry, And Donnie Stansberry serving as pallbearers. A dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes who is in charge of the arrangements.
