The Harrison Ruritan Club will host their spring-time car show on Sunday, May 25, which has raised over $10,000 over the past three years.
It will be at the Tennessee Riverpark off Amnicola Highway.
Registration is from 8-12. Judging starts at noon. Trophies are awarded at 3 p.m. A church service will be at 11 a.m.
The funds are used for projects such as a Habitat for Humanity house in Chattanooga, numerous scholarships to graduating local high-school seniors, donations to the food bank, donations to local fire departments, awards to area graduating 5th graders based on good character, donations to the needy and families experiencing difficulty, and sponsorship of local youth to Freedoms Foundation.
New for this year will be special classes for Corvette and Mustang enthusiasts. They club can make a class for any vehicle group if there are enough entries to justify. The introduction of racing lawnmowers last year has become popular.
Also new this year will be an inflatable slide for the kids, sponsored by Chuck Miller, owner of Hixson Transmission.
Over 100 trophies will be awarded in as many as five “top 5” categories in 20 separate classes plus a number of other special awards. There will be goody bags and dash plates for the first 150 registered. Door prizes will be given away during the day to registered vehicle owners. Non-commercial swap meet vendors will be allowed and commercial vendors of all kinds are welcome, but must contact the club in advance.
