A single-vehicle accident sent two women to the hospital with serious injuries on Monday evening.
At 6:23 p.m., a van driven by Jo Dean and occupied by Pamela Sizemore was traveling west on Main Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit an embankment, go through a yard and come to rest after hitting a second embankment.
Ms. Dean had to be cut out of the vehicle, while Ms. Sizemore was able to walk away with lacerations to the face and legs.
The driver sustained more extensive injuries and is listed in serious condition.
Brake failure was given as a cause, but a traffic investigator was called in to determine the exact cause of the accident.
No charges have been filed.
