Lee, Dessie Joyce posted May 13, 2008
Mrs. Lee was a native of Jefferson County, Al., and had lived most of her life in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area where she had worked as a waitress for several restaurants. She was a former member and Sunday School teacher at the Rossville Church of The Nazarene and was currently a member of the Del Ray Baptist Church. Mrs. Lee and her husband enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, playing dominos, working in the garden and flower beds, and playing with Molly her Chihuahua. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Effie Hiatt; and two sisters, Margie Hinnard and Estella Turner. She is survived by her husband, James R. Lee; two sisters, Bernice Thompson and Merilla Rumney; stepdaughters, Cheryl Scheivelhud and Sue Coleman; step-son, Jerry Brooks; six step-granddaughters; two step-grandsons; 13 step-great granddaughters; four step-great grandsons; and several step-great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Bill Proctor officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
