Cleveland's Sias Reyneke was in the right place at the right time Tuesday night in the Blue Raiders 1-0 win over Ooltewah in the region 3-AAA semifinal game played at the Nest.

Reyneke finished off a ball in the box with just seconds left in the first half. The goal would stand for the final 40 minutes ending the season for Ooltewah and giving Cleveland a shot at a state berth.

Cleveland advances to play at McMinn County on Thursday. The game will likely be played at 3 p.m. so that the seniors on Cleveland's team can attend graduation that evening.

Cleveland head coach John Brose liked how his team finished the game after a slow start.

"We came out flat and they took it to us for awhile," Brose said. "After that we were able to control the game and had some big scoring oppurtunities."

Cleveland made Ooltewah keeper Kyter Steffes work hard in the goal. Steffes made several saves including a tip over the cross bar with 23 minutes left in the first half. Minutes later, Cleveland was able to dribble into the box but an Ooltewah defender was able to clear the ball.

With ten minutes left in the game Cleveland had a shot go off the right post and then was cleared by Ooltewah.

The Ooltewah offense struggled to put together many dangerous oppurtinites in the second half but had a corner kick with about four minutes remaining that was cleared away by the Cleveland defense.

Brose said his defense was the key in their semifinal win.

"Hats off to the defense and to our keeper," he said "They kept it 1-0. Ooltewah is a very good team and hats off to them, they played hard. They got us the first time but we were able to win it when it counts."

Cleveland lost to Ooltewah 1-0 in the regular season game.

Cleveland lost to McMinn County in the District 5-AAA championship last week on penalty kicks.

At McMinn County on Tuesday, the Cherokees beat Soddy-Daisy 2-0.
