Border Patrol’s Minority Recruitment Strike Team Here May 21-24
posted May 14, 2008

The U.S. Border Patrol’s Minority Recruitment Strike Team will be in Chattanooga from Wednesday, May 21, through Saturday, May 24.

Officials said out of more than 16,000 Border Patrol agents across the country, there are only eight African American female agents.

Officials said, "Because many people in the community are not familiar with this federal law enforcement career path, the Minority Recruitment Strike Team’s effort is as much about educating the community on the Border Patrol’s mission as it is to recruit agent candidates."

Launched in January 2008, the Team is canvassing the Southeast to help meet a Presidential mandate to hire 6,000 Border agents by the end of this year.
