Adams Found Guilty In Liquor Theft From Valleybrook
posted May 15, 2008

A Criminal Court jury on Thursday found Jonathan Adams guilty of three felony charges in connection with the theft of 19 bottles of liquor from Valleybrook Golf and Country Club.

Adams, 23, will be sentenced by Judge Don Poole on June 30.

He faces 2-4 years for burglary of a business and 1-2 years for theft over $500 and vandalism over $500.

Adams remains free on bond.

In the incident last Aug. 22, authorities said a large piece of concrete was thrown through a window of the club.

Officers arrived to find Adams inside the club. The bottles of liquor were found in his father's Jaguar outside.

Adams said he had gone to Valleybrook with a friend named Josh to swim. He said Josh asked for the keys to the vehicle and then headed toward the vehicle.

The defendant told the jury he then heard a crash. He said he went to see what happened and, when police arrived, he ran inside the club.

Lance Pope prosecuted the case.

Adams said he is originally from New Orleans and has lived in Chattanooga the past 20 years.
