Unite For School Success Meets Tuesday
posted May 15, 2008

Following the announcement of the new middle/high school in the East Brainerd/ Apison/ Ooltewah area, a group was formed to organize and promote community efforts to support the school. This new organization has been named USS, an acronym for "Unite for School Success." Part of those efforts will be to raise funds that are not currently in the budget outlined by the Hamilton County Board of Education.

The new school is scheduled to open its doors to students in the fall of 2009. USS is making every effort to ensure that the school is fully operational when the doors open. The group is motivated to provide the new school's students with the same benefits and opportunities of students attending well-established schools, officials said.

USS is sponsoring a community meeting at Westview Elementary on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The speaker for the evening will be new Principal Pam Dantzler. This will be the first opportunity for the community at large to hear from Mrs. Dantzler.

Individual committees have been formed to work on fundraising, athletics, academics, government communications, marketing/PR, etc. USS raised $18,000 last year with the first annual Hurricane Party. This year's Hurricane Party will be on Sept. 6.

To sign up for a committee or activity visit the website at www.EastHamilton.com Future meeting notifications and other information about USS will be available on the website as well.
