Alexander Should Extend Tax Credit For Renewables
posted May 15, 2008

Sen. Lamar Alexander's seven-step Manhattan project is a great proposal to begin solving the United States' energy problems and climate change. Although he has supported climate change and renewable energy by submitting these steps, there are more urgent things that he could be doing.

There is currently a 30% federal tax credit for renewables such as solar panels and wind turbines that expires at the end of 2008. I urge Sen. Alexander to take action by voting for the extension of this tax credit, especially since Knoxville was recently chosen as a Solar America City.

The Solar America Initiative is to promote use of solar technology, and it would help not only Knoxville, but every state for Sen. Alexander to vote for an extension on the federal tax credit for renewables.
