Lookouts Open Homestand With 6-1 Win Over Mississippi Thursday posted May 16, 2008
Despite a rain-filled day, the Lookouts and M-Braves started Thursday’s contest with no delay. Likewise, the Lookouts offensive efforts started with no delay. With the bases loaded, Sean Henry induced a walk to give the Lookouts a 1-0 lead. B.J. Szymanski stepped-up to the plate and blasted a Dan Smith (0-6) offering over the centerfield wall to give the Lookouts a 5-0 edge. Mississippi entered the scoreboard in the second on a Reid Gorecki solo shot. The Lookouts, however, negated the Gorecki blast by scoring a run in the bottom of the second on a Jose Camarena passed ball, which plated Sean Henry. The M-Braves would give the Lookouts a scare in the ninth by scoring three runs off of Pedro Viola. Josh Roenicke would come into the game to record the final two outs and his ninth save of the season. Sam LeCure improved to 3-2 on the season in his seven-inning performance. He yielded just four hits and two walks, while striking out six. * * * * * The Lookouts and Mississippi Braves will continue their five-game series, Friday night at 7:15. The featured promotion for the night will be fireworks, sponsored by Erlanger Health System. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849. |
