Woman Says Ex-Boyfriend Poured Cooking Oil On Her, Lit Cigarette posted May 16, 2008 A woman testified Friday that her former boyfriend poured cooking oil on her and then lit a cigarette. Ina Cox also said that Adrian Smith took money from her and forced her to take him to buy drugs. General Sessions Court Judge Christie Sell bound charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery to the Grand Jury against Smith. He remains on $80,000 bond. Ms. Cox said she had told Smith she no longer wanted to see him, and she said she was changing the locks on her residence. She said he was inside the residence when she came home from work. The witness said Smith started hollering at her, then said he was going to kill them both. She said he made her go in the bedroom and then poured the cooking oil on her and the bed before lighting the cigarette. Then she said he took money from her and had her drive to the Boone-Hysinger projects and another location while holding a knife to her neck. She acknowledged she did not drive off or call police when he was inside buying drugs, but she said after he was gone she found a patrol officer and told him what happened. |
