National Public Works Week Is May 18-24

The city of Chattanooga will honor all Public Works employees as the Department of Public Works celebrates National Public Works Week, May 18-24.

“This is an opportunity for us to say thank you to the hundreds of hard working, dedicated employees in the department of public works,” said Mayor Ron Littlefield.

Events scheduled throughout the week range from a career fair at Chattanooga State to an employee appreciation luncheon. Visitors to this Sunday’s Chattanooga Market will be able to talk to representatives from the department, view displays, and see first hand the equipment and technology used to carry out the daily functions of maintaining the city’s infrastructure.

Public Works at the Chattanooga Market-
Sunday - 12-5 p.m.
First Tennessee Pavilion
Public works services, equipment, and technology will be on display to visitors.

Exploring Careers in Public Works-
Tuesday - 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Chattanooga State Technical Community College
Area high school and college students are invited to a career fair featuring the Chattanooga Department of Public Work.

Public Works Employee Lunch-
Thursday - 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
First Tennessee Pavilion

Roadside Displays -
Public works vehicles and lighted signs will be placed in prominent areas along the roadway advertising Public Works Week.
