Mississippi Mauls Lookouts Friday, 12-1

Cody Strait gave it the ole college try but could not come up with a first inning line drive hit.
The Mississippi Braves scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back as they thumped the Lookouts Friday night, 12-1, before a crowd of 4,629 at AT&T Field.

Braves center fielder Reid Gorecki went 4-for-5 (including a home run) with 5 RBI; Greg Creek was 3-for-5 with 2 RBI.

The Lookouts Eric Eymann went 3-for-4 and Tonys Gutierrez was 2-for-4.

The M-Braves (15-27) added a run in the third, and two in the fourth to lead, 6-1.

Chattanooga (22-20) allowed six eighth inning runs.

The visitors collected 15 hits off Lookouts pitchers; Chattanooga had nine hits.

James Parr (2-3) was the winning pitcher. He gave up one run in six innings, six hits, walked none, and struck out nine.

Ramon Ramirez (2-2) was the loser. He went four innings giving up eight hits, five earned runs, walking a batter, and fanning six.

The Lookouts committed two errors and left eight men on base.

Game 3 of five-game series is Saturday night.

Daryl Thompson (2-1/1.28) faces Mississippi's Todd Redmond (2-1/4.02).
