Why Was Deal Reached In Joshua Barber Case? - And Response
posted May 18, 2008

If the school board voted 7-2 to uphold Joshua Barber's termination for inappropriate conduct, why did Hamilton County school administrators not uphold this finding and cut a deal that results in this person being returned to work with children?

It was in the interest of children to remove Mr. Barber if his responses and actions with our children were in fact inappropriate. The school board and school administrators obviously felt that termination was warranted based upon the facts.

I, for one, would rather see an educator who has displayed highly questionable conduct removed from the school system at any cost, rather then risk the safety of children. I assure you that any future inappropriate conduct is certain to raise the issue of why the school board failed to remove a person they believed was irresponsible with children.

* * *

Joshua Barber is not in any way a danger to children in schools.

Joshua Barber is only a danger to people and organizations who profit either financially or politically from the continuing chaos and violence in public schools.
