posted May 18, 2008

Ooltewah standouts Gretchen Higdon and Tabitha Farrow will both be playing for Lee University next year.

In fact, the Lady Owls will be roommates with Higdon playing volleyball and Farrow playing softball for the Lady Flames.

The 5-foot-6 Higdon, an outstanding setter, chose Lee over Shorter College. She also considered Carson-Newman.

Higdon, also a standout on defense, helped lead Ooltewah to a 59-11 record and a berth in the Class AAA state final last fall. She was chosen to the all-state tournament team.

For her career, Higdon had 1,503 assists in 166 games with 410 digs, 210 kills and 117 aces.

Farrow will be playing for the nationally ranked Lady Owls this week in the Class AAA state softball tournament in Murfreesboro.

A right-fielder for Ooltewah, Farrow can also play infield positions. She played some at shortstop as a freshman and sophomore before breaking her collarbone.

Nelson said Farrow is hitting .300 this season for the Lady Owls.
