Boyd-Buchanan Marches To State Soccer Tournament McCallie, Baylor, Cleveland Also Land Bids posted May 18, 2008
The Bucs held on to beat visiting Merrol Hyde 3-2 Sunday afternoon. The Bucs led 3-0 at the half. The visitors scored two early goals in the second half to keep the game close. The Bucs defense were able to hold Merrol Hyde scoreless for the remaining minutes despite several dangerous chances by the visitors. Taylor Shull, Joey Glisson and Alex Kuhne scored the first half goals for the Bucs. The Bucs will open the state tournament with Madison Academic on Wednesday at 4 p.m. On Saturday, CSAS traveled to Station Camp and lost 2-1 in overtime. Class AAA Cleveland (18-5) is the only Class AAA team to qualify and they will play 21-0 Brentwood High School Wednesday night at 7 p.m. After winning the region tournament with a 4-0 win over McMinn County, Cleveland hosted Blackman on Saturday and won 2-0. McMinn County traveled to Riverdale and lost a heart breaker 2-1 in overtime. Division II In Division II Class AA, McCallie will face off with Father Ryan Thursday at 4:30 and Baylor will play Christian Brothers at 7 p.m. McCallie traveled to St. Benedicts on Friday and came home with a 5-2 win. Baylor hosted MUS on Saturday and won 4-1.
